Union Station Adult Center, Adult Donation Bags – Assisteens purchase items for, and then assemble, donation bags for adults who reside at the South Raymond Union Station location.  The donated items include toiletries such as shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, brushes, tissue, and pens, pencils, paper, granola bars, etc.

Union Station Adult Center, Sack Lunches – Assisteens assemble sack lunches to be donated to the South Raymond Union Station facility.  There are specific guidelines and requirements for the sack lunch donations which the Assisteens learn and follow.  The guidelines include the types of sandwiches and nourishment allowed, dating the assembly of each sack lunch to ensure freshness, etc.

Union Station Family Center, Family Donation Bags – Assisteens purchase items for, and then assemble, donation bags for the families at the East Orange Grove location.  Toiletries are included, as well as fun goods such as stickers, bubbles, bookmarks, gummy bears, granola bars, etc.

Infant Blankets – Soft fleece fabrics are purchased and then crafted to create blankets for infants in need.  Assisteens oversee all purchasing and crafting details.  Assisteens funds pay for fleece fabric which is used when the members break into groups at their monthly meeting.

Pasadena Humane Society – Assisteens purchase items for, and then assemble, donation bags for the cats and dogs at the Humane Society Shelter on Raymond Avenue.  We include dry and wet food.  This coming year, we hope to create a recipe for cat and dog biscuits, which we will bake on-site, and include in the donation bags.

Ecumenical Council of Pasadena, Pasadena Bad Weather Shelter – The Bad Weather Shelter representative works with the Assisteens Coordinator to arrange a date to serve dinner and desserts to their clients, during an evening of inclement weather.  Assisteens sign up to cook, bake, set up, and clean up at the Bad Weather Shelter in Pasadena.

Special Projects – Assisteens are encouraged to look toward their community and be inspired about how they can make a difference.  In 2017-2018, Assisteens held a Read-a-thon at the La Cañada Flintridge library. They read books to children, made Valentine-themed crafts and provided refreshments.  In 2018 – 2019, Assisteens identified a need at the Pasadena Humane Society.  Individuals visited the shelter and volunteered their time, helping out with the animals who were waiting to be adopted into their forever homes.  The teens enjoyed this activity so much that they decided to do it again in 2019-2020.
