Tag and transcribe records for the National Archives

The National Archives is “the nation’s record keeper” — storing the US’ Federal Government’s important documents. These documents are preserved and available to the public.

I volunteered by tagging and transcribing some of these records. Tagging documents means adding tags that relate to the document, which makes it easier for people to find them. Transcribing documents means writing out what is on the records as accurately as possible. This helps readers understand the documents.

It’s interesting reading through documents from the past, and I really enjoyed volunteering for the National Archives! I highly recommend others to try out this volunteer opportunity as well.
